Picked by hand, whole cluster pressed, cold fermented, and aged for roughly 5–7 months before bottling. This Picpoul is more aromatic than traditional examples, offering lovely white flowers and honeycomb alongside citrus notes. It shows terrific mineral tension and a long finish of lemon oil with hints of local scrub. Sourced from a roughly 35-acre site south of Brownfield, planted entirely to ENTAV clones.
The Grape Creek Vineyards Viognier opens with high-toned spice notes, hints of prairie grass, and sage, creating a distinctive and aromatic profile. Light- to medium-bodied, it reveals bright citrus fruit on the palate, adding a refreshing dimension. The finish is pleasantly lively, accented by a subtle jalapeño spice that adds an intriguing touch.
This Malvasia Bianca is a testament to freshness and vibrancy. Grapes were pressed directly in the vineyard using a bladder press, with the juice cold-settled before fermentation and then aged for six months in stainless steel prior to bottling. Sourced entirely from Kalasi’s Narra Vineyards estate in the Texas High Plains—located five hours from the winery—refrigerated transport is essential to preserving the quality of the fruit. This light, low-alcohol white is ideal for summer sipping or pairing with spicy, rich dishes. Highly floral and delicate, it features enchanting aromas of jasmine and honeysuckle. On the palate, it delivers impressive phenolic grip and a vinous character, underpinned by a chalky mineral baseline and bright acid tension. Lean, focused, and utterly refreshing, this white shows both charm and precision.
Made from early-picked grapes, with larger berries and lighter skins, this rosé undergoes pressing directly at the vineyard before being transported to the winery. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by six months of aging in tank before bottling. With a modest 12% alcohol and a light orange hue from brief skin contact, this wine is vibrant and refreshing. It offers bright red berry and high-toned melon fruit notes, layered with savory herbal undertones. The palate is defined by a tart, racy acid backbone that leads to a dry, crisp finish. Sourced entirely from Kalasi’s Narra Vineyards estate in the Texas High Plains, this wine is a delightful, a versatile and engaging expression of its unique terroir.
This is one of my favourite rosés from Kerrville Hills, as the Cinsault creates an intriguing and complex pink wine that leaps from the glass with bright cherry fruit, apricot, and tangerine peel. It builds with medium-bodied intensity, showing candied minerality and warming brown spices that emerge on the finish. Simply a super-pleasing rosé.
This Viognier opens beautifully in the glass, revealing candied citrus peel, dried prairie grass, and an intriguing smoky maple-bacon and white truffle richness from lees aging. Medium-bodied with a subtle, crunchy tannin grip, it shows layers of citrus and orchard fruit on the palate, while those savoury, aromatic notes reappear and linger through the finish.
Under the guidance of John Rivenburgh at Bending Branch, Picpoul Blanc was first planted in Texas in the High Plains around 2009 at the then-named Bending Branch Estate Vineyard. Selected for its excellent acid retention, the planting drew inspiration from Tablas Creek in Paso Robles. This particular wine comes from the roughly 15-acre Alta Loma Vineyard in the Texas High Plains (previously known as Timmons Estate Vineyard until its recent renaming). After harvest, the grapes are pressed in the vineyard, then transported to the winery and fermented on the skins without cold settling. Known for its natural acidity, the variety requires no acid adjustments and is bottled approximately six months after fermentation. This Picpoul Blanc is super aromatic, offering honeyed and nutty notes, melon-rich fruit, and pretty white floral aromas interwoven throughout. The palate is richly textured with good depth, balanced by a pleasant grip and a long, salty mineral finish.
This Picpoul Blanc from Lost Draw, crafted by Brad Buckelew with consulting winemaker Jean Hoefliger, is a clean, bright, and fresh expression of the variety. It opens with lively citrus and delicate white tea notes, complemented by a subtle touch of honeyed almonds. The medium-bodied palate offers a refined texture that builds into a salty mineral richness on the finish, making it an exceptionally food-friendly white.
This 100% Viognier was fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel, resulting in a wine with rich floral aromatics and subtle honeyed undertones. Creamy orchard fruit flavors come together beautifully on the light- to medium-bodied palate, framed by zesty acidity and an unctuous, fruit-driven finish. In other words, it’s effortlessly crushable. Sourced from Diamonte Doble and Bingham Family Vineyards.
The 2023 Trebbiano from Meierstone Vineyards in the Texas High Plains showcases captivating spice aromatics, with hints of coriander and brown sugar adding intrigue. Lean and sharply focused on the palate, it reveals subtle notes of prairie grass that enhance its complexity. This wine is intensely savory, bursting with energy, and an absolute joy to drink. Its bright, acid-driven profile delivers a “ripping” freshness that’s as engaging as it is satisfying. For those seeking a lively and distinctive white.
Sourced from the Legacy Vineyard in the Texas High Plains, this 100% Sangiovese is hand-picked and crafted with a direct press of the skins before fermentation and aging in neutral vessels for a few months prior to bottling. The nose is captivating, offering aromas of strawberry panna cotta, pressed lavender, and dried Texas purple sage. On the palate, it delivers vibrant tension, featuring crunchy blood orange notes, grapefruit zest, and cherry pit, underscored by a subtle hint of crushed granite stone.

Warm baking spices, a touch of toasty barrel char, and subtle charcuterie notes add savory depth to the firm, focused finish. It’s a lively and structured expression that highlights both fruit purity and textural grip.

Sourced entirely from their Michael Ros Vineyards in the Texas High Plains, this wine was aged for 19 months in 12% new Russian oak. Winemaker Tim Drake says he loves Russian oak, which he began using in 2005 while in Washington State. The trees used are over 300 years old, and the grain is so tight you need a magnifying glass to see it—meaning minimal oxygen penetration during aging, yet the wood imparts a touch of baking spice complexity. The wine itself shows a rich, soft fruit profile with ripe red fruit, cherry, and cranberry alongside espresso bean, sage, and green tobacco notes that layer beautifully across the mid-palate. The finish is lengthy, carried by sweet spice and plush tannins in this elegant medium-bodied expression.

The Diamonte Doble Vineyard Gewürztraminer from the Texas High Plains is a highly aromatic white, bursting with vivid notes of chamomile and bergamot tea, wildflower honey, and savory sagebrush. These aromas transition well into the medium- to full-bodied palate, which showcases deep, penetrating flavors layered with intense spices that lead to a long and lingering finish. Serve it well-chilled alongside a pork loin with an aromatic spice rub.
Small-batch fermented and aged for 18 months in 40% neutral oak, 40% new French oak, and 20% new American oak. This is an easy-drinking red with rose petal aromatics and dried cherry on the nose. A refreshing and approachable wine that well aligns with Rhinory’s mission to craft wines that bring people together while supporting wildlife conservation efforts.
Fermented in stainless steel and then aged half in stainless and half in neutral French oak barrels for 11 months. In Texas, where some wines can run a little hot, picking earlier helps preserve freshness. This Sangiovese shows a savoury, meaty edge alongside bright red currant and tart cherry fruit, layered with notes of black olive. The medium-bodied palate is driven by super-juicy, crunchy acid tension, making it vibrant and food-friendly. “Wine is the ultimate condiment for food,” says David Bradbury, Wine Director at Rhinory.

A blend of Sangiovese from two vineyards in the Texas High Plains, this wine was aged entirely in neutral American oak for 12 months. It opens with a super-savory nose that, as some friends noted, evokes Swisher Sweets—meaty, tobacco-laced, with both green and black olive nuances. Red-toned fruit follows on the palate alongside subtle maple-kissed tannins and oolong tea notes. Superfine tannins build gracefully on the lengthy finish. It’s a homerun wine—versatile, approachable, and perfect with pastas, pizzas, or barbecue fare.

The Horn Red Wine Blend, sourced from the Texas High Plains, is a bright, red-toned fruit-forward wine with richly spiced layers of clove, rose petal, and flamed orange zest. These aromas carry through to the medium-bodied palate, where crunchy acidity and apple skin tannins add structure. The finish is smoky, with lingering clove and licorice notes that provide depth and complexity. This is one of the most intricate and intriguing wines from Rhinory that I’ve tasted.

This Sangiovese Rosé is quite complex, with lovely cherry fruit aromatics mingling with notes of licorice and aniseed. Dried fruit tones emerge with air, adding depth to the richer, creamier core. A fine-boned acidity and a taut, mineral finish provide structure and lift, while gentle tannic tension frames the wine beautifully. Aged for 12 months in neutral oak.
Grown by Friesen Vineyards and aged for 15 months in 35% new French oak, this Cabernet Franc comes from Ron Yates Winery, which opened in 2016 following the Yates family’s purchase of Spicewood Vineyards in 2007. With nearly two decades of experience in grape growing and winemaking in the Texas Hill Country, the team delivers a polished expression of the variety. The wine is driven by dark cherry and currant fruit layered with notes of sagebrush and prairie grass. On the palate, it shows a lean, iron-like crushed stone minerality, cedarwood spice, and supple, building tannins that carry through a long, smoky paprika finish.

Super delicate on the nose, with wildflowers and white-peach notes and just a kiss of vanilla. Light- to medium-bodied, with those same lifted aromatics carrying onto the palate, finishing crisp with a faint, chalky minerality. 100% Albariño. Five barrels made, with some new-oak ageing. Sourced from Bingham Vineyards — who also grow organic peanuts and cotton.
From Friesen Vineyard in Brownfield, Texas, in the Texas High Plains—owned by Ron Yates—this wine was fermented in one-ton fermenters and aged in French oak, roughly 40% new, with tight-grain barrels to help manage tannins. The wine is bright and expressive, showing ripe dark berry and blue fruit with violet nuances and warm baking spice tones that build across the medium-bodied palate. Supple, ripe tannins and subtle cocoa powder notes carry through to the lengthy finish. Nicely balanced and well-structured, and if this is the direction Signor is headed under winemaker Michael Barton, it’s definitely one to watch.

This is the inaugural release from Spencer Gatlin—son of Dan Gatlin—who has launched his own project with a clear vision. “What he has done, and will do, is create his own concepts,” Dan says proudly.
